Following recent diplomatic engagement between the UK and China, global logistics and customs brokerage provider, CCL, have highlighted renewed trade opportunities between the countries.
On 28th January, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met President Xi Jinping in Beijing as he became the first British leader to visit the country in eight years.
The visit signalled improving relations between the two countries, while relaxing conditions for travel by allowing British citizens to now fly to the country for up to 30 days without a visa.
“As a business that supports China–UK trade, we were encouraged by the UK’s recent negotiations in Beijing. Through our experience in helping establish resilient import and export routes between China and the UK, we have seen first-hand the economic benefits that both countries can gain when trading - and this renewed collaboration is a sign of even better things to come” says Stuart Campey, CEO at CCL.
As China is one of the UK’s main trading partners and one of the world’s economic powers, improving relations could unlock significant new trade partnerships and supply chain opportunities for businesses operating between the two markets.
Given regulatory difference and transport complexities, CCL suggest that businesses looking to capitalise on trade opportunities need to plan and establish streamlined logistics operations and clear customs compliance processes.
“While the outlook is encouraging, international trade is still complex! Having the right logistics and customs support in place ensures businesses can take advantage of emerging opportunities while mitigating risk. As cross-border logistics experts, our role is to simplify that process and ensure products are transported from A to B with ease” adds Stuart.
Since 1999, CCL has been providing a comprehensive solution for eCommerce retailers and delivery providers seeking to simplify and expedite their shipments into and out of the UK and Eurozone.
With integrated services, global connections and a strategically located ETSF (External Temporary Storage Facility), CCL can provide bespoke logistics solutions for cross-border eCommerce goods entering Europe via air, sea, road and rail.
With a strong presence in China, including an office in Beijing, CCL have strengthened their position in international trade – helping supply chains combine the quality standards and financial strength of the UK, with the productive capacity and logistical efficiency of China.
“Greater cooperation creates the stability businesses need to invest with confidence and we welcome the positive direction of travel between the UK and China. In 2026, we look forward to continuing to keep the flow of goods moving seamlessly across borders - in full, on time and fully compliant with all necessary customs requirements!” concludes Stuart.
